A.C.T. Metal Deck Supply Employees volunteer at Northern Illinois Food Bank to pack 1,125 meals for the hungry.

Employees from A.C.T. Metal Deck Supply are doing their part to give back to others during these challenging times.  Wearing masks and gloves, employees volunteered at the local food bank in Geneva, IL.
At the food bank, we sorted and packed canned goods.  During our two-hour shift, we packed 1,350 pounds of food providing 1,125 meals for our neighbors in northern Illinois.
In the United States, 1 in 9 people struggles with hunger.  While the coronavirus pandemic has impacted thousands of people in a myriad of ways, it has also brought into the forefront the hunger issue in the U.S. 54 million people may face hunger in the U.S. during 2020, including 18 million children.
The Northern Illinois Food Bank serves 13 counties in Illinois. They rely on donors, volunteers and community partners to uphold their mission and vision for "no one to be hungry in northern Illinois.  According to a 2014 food study done by Northern Illinois Food Bank and Feeding America, "the Northern Illinois Food Bank serves more than 71,000 people each week."
It was such a rewarding and fun day – what a great feeling to help others!
