Composite steel floor decking is a cold-formed steel decking, which acts as a permanent form. Composite Steel Floor Decking also acts as the positive bending reinforcement for the structural concrete. When the floor decking is suitably fastened, the steel decking also acts as a working platform for the various trades.
The finish on the steel composite decking shall be as specified by the designer. The floor decking should be suitable for the environment of the structure.
Composite steel floor decking is available in three basic finishes: galvanized decking, phosphatized decking and painted decking finishes. The galvanized finish floor decking is available in G60 & G90 coating. Composite steel floor decking comes in 1.5" decking, 2" decking or 3" decking depths. The Composite Floor Decking is offered in various gauges from 16 to 22 gauge decking.
Since the composite decking is the positive bending reinforcement for the slab, the composite floor decking must be designed to last the life of the structure.
Composite steel floor decking is typically used for multi-story buildings, mezzanines, bridge walkways, porches, in-fills, platforms and parking garages, storage facilities, etc…
